Got the Prelude running again finally! Now the mechanic says it runs, but dies out when the fuel pressure builds up. I have a toggle switch on the fuel pump, so if he switches it off, it runs fine until it runs out of gas.. Then it runs fine until it builds the presure back up etc. Sounds like a fuel pressure regulator or something like that to me. Anyone want to chime in?

Have the same problem it's alleviated by loosening the gas cap. The pressure lets off and you can ride with it loose or leave it on correctly until it builds up pressure and fails again.

Every vehicle I have owned over ten years old I've replaced the gas tank (Upstate NY) so I am thunking of just getting that eventual job out of the way in a couple weeks in hopes it would fix this.

^^^^^your problem is a clogged gas tank vent or even a bad cap that will not allow air in and is drawing a vacuum on the tank . to the op do you mean it only runs long enough to idle for a second and turns off ? the pump should prime and build pressure before you crank it so im thinking that fuel is not the issue . why is your pump on a toggle switch to start with ? a little more history plz .. is this a fresh swap ? was it running then just shut off ? when you switch the pump on then off and start it does it run for longer than it does if you just leave it switched on ? im not completely understanding what your saying its doing .
