Two old 1st-gen Preludes... good buy?

I was out to the junkyard to the other day to get a license plate bracket, and was stunned to see three vintage Hondas that had just been hauled in; a 1983 Accord and TWO 1st-gen Preludes. Apparently they were part of a "collection", and the junkyard owner had to buy these to get a nice Camaro he wanted. The Preludes are in really rough shape, at least bodywise. One is a 1980 with the odd speedometer/tachometer combo, the other an '82 with a more conventional panel. The '82 is badly rusted but looks restorable, but the '80 is rusted severely with the rocker panels and half the floor totally disintegrated. The interiors are actually pretty good, though one needs new seat covers. And the '80 apparently is running and driveable, though it would obviously never pass a safety inspection.
The junkyard owners wife, who handles the business side of things, is asking $250 apiece for the Preludes - apparently, the value of the scrap metal plus their towing expenses. I'm considering making a bulk offer for them and the old Accord, which is also scrap but has a lot of good parts, especially on the interior. I told her to give me a few days to think things over, and try to scrape some money together. I still live with my parents too, so needless to say I'll have to talk it over with them first.
So what are your thoughts on this matter? Is $500 a good buy for two 1st-gen Preludes in this shape, or is it just good-bye $500? I've done a couple of other vintage Hondas in similar condition, so I know how much time and effort is involved in restoring one. I'm not real keen on taking on another such project - or two - but these are the only 1st-gen Preludes I've ever seen, and probably the only chance I'll ever have to acquire one. Finding even one of these cars in eastern Canada is rare, but what are the odds of finding two!
Thanks for any advice.

Interesting find...

I recently bought a 1981 Prelude that I am in the process of restoring, but it is in better shape than how you describe those two. The accord and the prelude share a lot of parts in those years so that is a good thing, the other thing is since you have an option of two you could just use one as a parts car and build the other from it.

Are the engines complete? Since you are in canada they should be EL1 engines which, from what I hear, are pretty sought after. The EL head fits on the US version (EK1) but does not have the CCVC setup and thus is better for tuning. If both engines are complete you could probably sell the one you done use for almost as much as the car... just an idea...

My build thus far is here: 1981 Honda Prelude Restoration

I'm trying to sell my restored 80 Prelude... I just can't live without an S2000 again :)
