My first Gen, Need some direction

I am in the market for a couple of parts but cannot find them anywhere, i am located in Ontario, Canada. I need a brake booster, and some body parts i would just rather replace than attempt to fix. Trunk lid, both rear quarter panels, and gas cap.

ok, photobucket is not working at the moment therefore i cannot host any pictures, i will try to get them back up and working on here soon. Anyone selling a good condition parts or knows where i could get some it would be much appreciated.

Re: My first Gen, Need some direction

well i checked out ebay aswell, doesn't have the greatest selection for 1982 preludes :P

EDIT: that came out wrong, they dont have many brake booster or vacuums on ebay motors for my 82 prelude. or any body parts, thought that was weird.

Heres some pics of her, i payed $600 (Canadian)

no power options, not even steering, except for power sunroof. Still runs, brakes need work as i posted, and interior needs complete overhaul.

That is ****ing sick. I love it. As for finding parts... your best bet is probably going to be Honda forums... Sad but true.

Re: My first Gen, Need some direction

Very nice Lopes!! I hope you decide to keep it stock. There are so many cars out there that have been ruined.

Mine is as original as possible. My only "mod" was going with 1979 fenders because I could not find 1980! There was a VERY slight change in that one year.

You can check out my restoration process at
1980 Honda Prelude Restoration

Theres some links on there that may help. I also recommend ebay, that's where I got my fenders.

Check This Old Honda - Old, Antique and Classic Honda and Acura Automobiles as well - once in awhile someone will list a car they are parting out.

Good luck!

Re: My first Gen, Need some direction

Thanks At the moment the only real thing I can see I need is a body panel that fits between the hood and the windshield... got some pretty bad rust bubbles and even a bit of rust thru.

Tried to get a thermostat gasket last week which Honda no longer sells here, nor did the aftermarket store. Ended up making one.

I'll certainly post anything else that comes to mind.

Thanks alot, your build log was awesome, i dont know if i can do that much work :( i dont have my own shop.. and zero experience..
your car is absolutely beautiful. I would like to keep her as stock as possible except for my radio, i would like a GPS built in radio with it. somewhere. I do NOT want to ruin hondas amazing original design of this beauty.

Re: My first Gen, Need some direction

I totally agree on the radio. The original was already long gone when I got the car, and when I got my first iPod way back, I opted for a digital radio so I could use my Griffin iTrip to play music over it.

My ex was really good with mechanical and body work. Any future repairs or updates I will have to pay for :)

Re: My first Gen, Need some direction

haha i understand I'm banking A LOT on a couple guys from my hometown, but i think if I'm going to get their help, i would have to move back home... doesn't sound so bad really.. haha we will have to see. i really wish i knew how to do things on car, but i am a very new beginner. I would have my head under that hood all night from after to work until i couldn't keep my eyes open.

Re: My first Gen, Need some direction

If you still need it, rockauto.com sells the brake booster for $92+shipping. Also, one thing to think about is upgrading to '85 Accord front brakes. The stock discs on these cars aren't even vented and they're very small. I picked up some Accord calipers, rotors, and pads at the junkyard for like $40. They made a huge difference in the stopping power and the car just felt safer when getting off the highway

Would it make a difference if mine is a DOHC?

I believe they're the same. Since it's a US website, they don't do the greatest job explaining non-US models. We couldn't get the nonCVCC models here
