81' prelude in need of help

I have a 81 that I am having some trouble with, hopefully someone else who has a 1st. gen. or is knowledgeable about carbs. can help me out. The problem is when it's started cold, it runs like crap until it warms up. I have a newly rebuilt carb. and have replaced all the vac. hoses, new plugs, wires, and cap. After it's warm it runs fine. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Carb's are temperamental in cold weather start ups. It's not instant and computer controlled like fuel injected motors. My 2nd gen, dual carb'd motor was really, really moody when it was below 40 degrees or so. But after it warmed up, it idled perfectly.

carbs being tempermental in colder climates is why auto manufactures converted over to FI in the early-mid 80's.

Well, that might help explain the problem. I live in Billings,Mt. so its fairly cool 9 months out of the year. How about the thermovalve going bad, anyone have any experience dealing with this scenario?
